Sounds like a great kid.

He described his heroes as “all those who swim against the tide or care for the less fortunate.” Most people never come close to acquiring as much compassion as that quote shows. Somewhere along the way he must have found empathy for people who were handed unfair circumstances.

Thank you for publishing my brother’s obituary which I wrote. I wish that my writing was more capable. I respond only to assure those who attempted to dishonor my brother, for he did not do so himself, that he remains his little brother’s hero to this day. I will strive each day to be just slightly more like him.

Quigley, I’m not saying that we ought to support Obama in all things. But I do think that we ought to support him when his policies are good. My only point is really that we need to take care to not fall into the idiocy that was so prevalent during the last eight years. We support policies, not people. We support policies when they are good for America, and reject policies that are bad for America.

Fyi, German Americans were also interned. I find nothing wrong with internment if it is conducted humanely. In most cases in the US, they were. This is standard war-time proceedings.

P.s. Your use of “FDR the Tyrant” is distracting and unnecessary. He is certainly less tyrannical than modern day neo-cons. Gitmo, anybody?

So are you saying you never want the state to violate civil rights? Surely there must be times when we need the government to keep an eye on our enemies so that they don’t destroy us.

I’m not saying that the internment of Japanese-Americans was right (I don’t). But how can you justify saying that the state shouldn’t have the power to keep us safe?
